The beginning of busyness.

This weekend is the beginning of the summer tourist season in Chicago, which means that I start right now being extremely busy for three months.
This is what I know of right now:
I just babysat Jordan again. She pooped a lot but she liked the pink on my shirt. She has two teeth, which I think is just lazy.
I'm currently about an hour from getting on the train to go to work driving a trolley until 11.
I'm scheduled for 47 hours this week. 56 hours next week. Now, I reiterate to all out there who have toyed with the idea of driving a trolley for extra money during the summer, now is the time. I don't want to work 56 hours every week. But I promise you, if you don't start working at trolley, I'll find a way to make you work 56 hours somewhere.
I have tomorrow off, but in preparation for the long, hot, frustrating, exhausting summer that lies ahead of me, I will use my off day to buy a firewire for my DV editting stuff, do some laundry, straighten up the apartment, write a show to be performed at 8:30 tomorrow night, do some editting of the DV stuff, figure out how to burn dvd's on my new computer, and then I'll go do the 8:30 show followed by the 11 pm hosting of Lick Your Wounds.
Then I work 9-6:30 tomorrow. I promised I'd work for someone at the theater tomorrow night.
Then next week, after my saturday night shift, I go do a two hour "acting" gig. It pays $200, so I'm glad. I'm Simon Cowell in a "karaoke Idol" contest. I'd better lose weight and do some push ups between now and then.
I have to send off my paperwork for the Kansas City Fringe Festival. That's the last weekend in July. The weekend before that, it looks like I'm going to New York for the Del Close Festival with "Lick Your Wounds".
By the way, I'm already needing to pass on two things because of the busyness. I can't even go to an audition for a group that I'm directing next Saturday...but I am excited about directing a sketch comedy group. And the KC Fringe Festival will prohibit me from going to Virginia with Lick Your Wounds that same weekend. So sad. They were so nice to invite us and I can't go. At least there will be a full cast there though.
No funny in this one. Just a list mostly. It is for that reason that I'm putting a link above to Scott's blog. Let him be the funny one for once.

Ahhhh, Trolleyland in summer. It makes me feel all tingly inside. Oh, wait. No, that's last night's jalapeno dip coming back for revenge. Sorry.
Have fun!

Gee, melting sneakers (yes sneakers), burns on my right calf from wood trim screws, sniffing about, wondering if that smoke IS really coming out from under the engine cowling next to me, do I miss it?

I'll be air conditioned, pale, and probably won't get screamed at much (probably).

Ok, I miss the gang.

And cutting off cabs.

And explaining how to get downstairs for the trolley to Navy Pier. (NOT)

4:30pm Friday in the Route at the Campus w/25 aboard already.

5:55pm at Water Tower on the Red Route w/34 aboard already.

8:30am at Navy in the Route, having coffee w/Jon (miss him).

Any Driver's meeting w/Chris, Scott, Dave B., Stock, John O. & Reggie in attendance, good sport!

Watching Ovie hand out bad news.
Watching Joel hand out bad news.
Watching any of the mechanics look at me like I'm insane while trying to describe something wrong w/the vehicle. (regardless of whether I'm insane or not, or whether something's actually wrong w/the trolley or not!

Ah... The start of the busy season. OR sucker season? (who is the sucker?) At my new job we have these crazy things called "paid holidays" or something like that. Good luck Chris. Give em hell.

I'm trying to guess which former, bitter, probably female, probably unjustly "let go" from Trolleyland might be trying to rub this in.
By the way, what's this job? I want a vacation in the summertime for once. I get two weeks vacation. I just can't use them in summer.
